Working alone

I spent last week working with the fashion team on Gok’s Fashion Fix – lots of pressure, deadlines, behind the scenes stuff and working with the man himself.

Loved it for the manic-ness of it all, the new(ish) experience of working on a TV show, the challenge of altering and creating new pieces that have to be ready for the catwalk that evening, having to think on my feet and use my creative skills that aren’t usually associated with dressmaking. I think most of all I loved working with a team.

I do spend a great deal of time working on my own in my studio and do miss the interaction with a fellow human beings. Bouncing ideas around on your own often just means that you spend a long time just going around in circles! I often joke that I need a perch, bell and mirror to keep me company (like a budgie!), but it wont replace the sparks generated between a group of 2, 3 ,4 or even 5 – I come from a family of 6 kids – so a small group is usually over 5 for me! Perhaps its time to create a sewing circle…

Well enough distractions – I should go back to the project I’m working on and stop ringing this bell!
